In November 2017, Technotrack Engineering announced that it is the proud company sponsor behind Gemma Holland's Machu Picchu challenge. We are thrilled to report that Gemma took on the challenging Machu Picchu trek and succeeded, not only in completing the challenge but by raising over £5,500 for local Ipswich charity, St Elizabeth Hospice. “I've done some crazy things to raise money for the Hospice over the years but it's safe to say this one is the craziest! Trekking up to 9 hours a day over 5 days is going to be a tough one but I know with all of your support I can do it!” Gemma Holland Gemma arrived in Peru, South America on Friday, 4th May and after acclimatising to the altitude in the ancient Inca Capital of Cusco, began the tough trek to Machu Picchu on Monday, 7th May from the Sacred Valley. The four day trek was a once in a lifetime experience for Gemma, she spent her evenings camping in the wild, beside rivers and her days tackling high mountain passes, the highest was 4,600m in the Ranrayoc Valley. Following the traditional Inca path, Gemma and her team caught their first awe-inspiring view of the sacred site of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate on Thursday, 10th May. "The whole Technotrack Engineering team would like to congratulate Gemma on her successful challenge and we are proud to have supported such a worthy cause." Callum Finlayson, Production Director Gemma's chosen charity is St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich. St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for those living with progressive and terminal illnesses through palliative care. They can care for patients in their home, in the community, or at the hospice. St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity providing free services. Every year, their services cost £9.1 million to run, three quarters coming from the local community. They rely on fundraising, donations and volunteers, like Gemma to keep going.
