C3R Stage 2 & CSIE Commissioning
From 2022 through to 2025, Technotrack Engineering (TTE) have continually supplied experienced signalling personnel in support of the C3R Stage 2 and CSIE commissioning programme, delivered in partnership with Alstom.

Throughout the project, TTE have provided a full range of qualified IRSE-certified signaling staff, including:

• IRSE Installation Supervisors
• IRSE Installation Team Leaders
• IRSE Installation Installers

Project Complexity
This project has presented significant challenges, not only due to its scale, covering 32 route miles, but also because of the ongoing development and implementation of the new SmartLock interlocking system. This programme has seen the complete replacement of the legacy SSI system, which had been in operation since 1984, marking a major modernisation of the railway infrastructure.

Scope of Works
To highlight the scale of delivery during the Stage 2 and CSIE build, the works completed include:

• Installation of 400,000 metres of signalling cables
• Build, fit-out, and delivery of 22 SMIOs
• Installation or alteration of 94 signals
• Installation of 226 axle counters
• Build and termination of 150 SMIO distribution boards
• Installation of 104 TPWS loops
• Installation of 63 AWS magnets
• Installation of 31 LODs
• Complete renewal of one level crossing
• ​Successful enabling of seven existing level crossings
• ​Enabling of 60 ends of points

Signal Box & Systems Installation
In parallel with the extensive trackside works, Technotrack's Systems Installation Team have worked tirelessly within the signal boxes, delivering what effectively became a project in its own right.

This included:

• Installation of new Signaller Control Desks
• ​Installation of SmartLock cubicles
• Completion of all associated interface wiring within the PSB and at Foxton Gate signal box

The level of skill, coordination, and dedication shown by the systems teams was critical to the programme’s success. Without their expertise within the signal boxes and their ability to deliver within an extremely compressed timeframe, completion of the installation would not have been possible.
